Websites for barbers and beauty salons

In a barbershop or a nail salon, bookings come in by phone, by Instagram message, by WhatsApp or through a booking app. It all works until the phone rings in the middle of a cut. I build sites where the services, the prices and the booking are one tap away.

What a barbershop or salon website needs

Less than it seems. The hard part is the booking, and deciding whether it belongs on your site at all.

  1. 01

Services under the names customers already use

A short list, in the words the business itself uses and its customers recognise, with the price next to each one when the business publishes prices. “Haircut” and “haircut and beard” with a price answer the question before anyone calls.

  2. 02

    Booking in four steps

The service, how long it takes, the day and time, then a name and a mobile number. No account to create. Only the days the salon is open are offered, and the confirmation arrives by text or email with a way to cancel.

  3. 03

    Several locations, one page

With more than one location, booking starts by choosing where. A service that only exists in one of them shows up only there, so nobody books something that location does not do.

  4. 04

Already on a booking platform? Keep it

If the app works and brings customers in, the site's job is to send people to it clearly, from each service and each location. A booking page of your own makes sense when you want bookings on your own domain, under your own rules, with the customer list on your side.

  5. 05

    Tested on a narrow phone

Most bookings are made on a phone, so I test these pages at 375 px wide. That is where the bugs no desktop screen shows turn up, such as a whole page that slides sideways.

Barbershop and salon demos04

Two barbershops and two nail salons. They are demos built from each business's own copy, not the businesses' official websites. The booking pages are simulations: they work on screen, create no real booking, and say so at the end.

Other kinds of business

The same exercise for other sectors, and for the area I am based in.
